In this Gladiolus woodii flower the strange-looking anthers, resembling an M in chocolate catches the eye. From a floral perspective the bright yellow margins of the lower lateral tepals deserve the attention much more. They are colourful but small, much exceeded in length by the median lower tepal.

The obliquely funnel-shaped perianth tube of the flower is about 9 mm long (Goldblatt and Manning, 1998; Pooley, 1998; Trauseld, 1969; iNaturalist).
