Gladiolus rehmannii is a summer rainfall species that grows in sandy soil, often in rocky areas and open woodland. It is distributed in the northern parts of South Africa and eastern Botswana, where the habitat conforms to the required features. The plant is not considered to be under threat in its fairly large distribution area, where large tracts of land is used as grazing and not ploughed.
G. rehmannii typically reaches heights of between 30 cm and 50 cm.
