Gorteria diffusa subsp. calendulacea, the tyre daisy or the Kamiesberg beetle daisy, is a prostrate annual herb reaching heights to about 5 cm. The branching stems on the ground are rough, becoming up to 25 cm long.
The species is distributed in parts of Namaqualand in the Northern Cape.
The plants grow in sandy and clayey soils on flats and stony slopes in arid winter rainfall conditions. The subspecies is not considered to be threatened in its habitat early in the twenty first century (Le Roux, et al, 2005; iNaturalist; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
