Glumicalyx flanaganii can grow many stems in its moist montane habitat. The leaves have slightly toothed or scalloped margins. The flowers grow in pendulous heads. They have oblong to round, orange petal lobes, white on the lower surfaces.
All four stamens and the style protrude from the flower mouth at some stage in the flowering (Manning, 2009; iNaturalist; www.sequimrareplants.com).
