When Grewia robusta buds open, the five long, oblong to lanceolate sepals, whitish in picture, reveal the presence of the five shorter petals that will flaunt deeper colouring in open flowers while young. The sepal midribs bulge on the outside surfaces. The buds grow solitary from leaf axils (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Shearing and Van Heerden, 2008; Coates Palgrave, 2002).
