The scented, young Grewia robusta flower is dark pink on the inside surfaces of both sepals and petals. The flower appears “double” as the shorter, wider petals spread inside the similarly coloured, longer, narrower sepals.

The dark colouring in the flower centre is partly caused by the petals not yet fully open, but more by the purplish pink colouring of the numerous filaments of the still about straight stamens.

The creamy yellow anthers are irregularly globose, smaller than the stigma at the tip of the longer, thicker style in the centre (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Shearing and Van Heerden, 2008; Coates Palgrave, 2002).
