Aspalathus acuminata subsp. acuminata shrub

Aspalathus acuminata subsp. acuminata shrub
Author: Ivan Lätti
Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

This spreading and rigidly branching Aspalathus acuminata subsp. acuminata shrub was seen in September, growing well in the Biedouw Valley after good rain. Positioned on a rocky and sandy slope, much of the surrounding vegetation is common in arid fynbos.

The finely yellow-green foliage is sparse, not obscuring the thicker, whitish stems (iNaturalist; www.fernkloof.org.za).
