The ovate Hemimeris racemosa leaves start off fairly narrow, their toothed flanks bulging somewhat as they mature. On the plant (or plants) in picture the teeth on the blade margins are fairly regular and angular. This differs from some other plants seen nearby in the Biedouw Valley where the photo was taken, bearing leaves with nearly entire margins.
The small red markings sometimes seen on the yellow corollas are absent from flowers in the photo (Manning, 2007; Bean and Johns, 2005; iNaturalist).
