Melasphaerula graminea wiry stems, spaced flowers

The long, wiry Melasphaerula graminea stems have well-spaced side-branches where small groups of its (here whiter than the usual yellow or cream) flowers may appear scattered over the surroundings at bloomtime.

Dark, sometimes purplish markings on the lower tepals are not present on the flowers in the photo. The dark central lines are short here, often red-brown. The anthers are yellow in the corolla base, the calyx green at its back.

The plant was seen in the Biedouw Valley during September (Manning,2007).
