Foveolina dichotoma florets arranged in curves

There is precision and elegance in the spirals formed by particularly the still unopened buds of the Foveolina dichotoma flowerhead. They corresponding to Fibonacci’s mathematics in the gradual increments of their positioning in regular curves in the structure.

Floret opening brings about some blurring of the lines as fruit and seed production now take precedence over youthful artistic design. In people this tendency translates into creative ambition that seldom lasts for a lifetime, or recurs in bursts of energy, like floral blooming seasons.

It appears as if the open florets in picture have only four lobes at their tube tips.
