The centres of the individual Hessea breviflora flowers are sometimes darker pink than the rest of the tepals, maturing to pale brown. Tepal colouring ranges across shades of pink, the buds or outside surfaces duller. The almost oblong tepals are slightly lanceolate, their pointed tips curving in slightly.
The specific name, breviflora, is derived from the Latin words, brevis, meaning short or small and flora meaning flowers, referring to the short flowers.
The filaments are about white, joined at the base in a tube in the perianth mouth. The anthers start off oblong, about 2 mm long and coloured dark maroon, their pollen cream. The about globose ovary is inferior, its slender style is white, straight and erect, shorter than the stamens.
The fruit capsule is nearly globose, thin-walled and quick to disintegrate (Duncan, et al, 2016; iNaturalist).
