The single leaf of Lachenalia buchubergensis is blotched in reddish purple, mostly only on its outside, while dull greenish without blotches inside. The oblong leaf is broad, tapering abruptly at both ends. The tip is obtusely pointed, the base is whitish low down and sheathing the stem that is in picture similarly purple-blotched.
The blade halves fold in laterally, slightly more so at the tip. The blade is fleshy with longitudinal, parallel veins visible, sometimes slightly ridged; probably more when drought affects the plant. The margins are entire, on some plants wavy (iNaturalist; Wikipedia).
