Anisodontea reflexa flower detail

The Anisodontea reflexa flower in picture has acutely pointed, green sepals pointing forward. They are positioned in the gaps between the reflexed pink and white petals that are lobed at their tips. Thinner green epicalyx lobes emerging further back than the calyx are in picture, also green and hairy, not reaching as far forward as the sepal tips.

The filaments of numerous stamens are united in a cylindrical staminal tube. This tube surrounds the styles in their lower parts and projects forward far beyond the corolla. The free filament parts emerging from where the tube ends are thin, white and spreading. The anthers at the filament tips are dark and lumpy, appearing scattered around the cylinder.

In front of the stamens, the bunch of pink and white styles spread their tips, the stigmas (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000).
