The globose or ellipsoid, yellow fruits of Maytenus oleoides are stalked, two-lobed and fleshy. They reach 1 cm in diameter before drying to an orange colour.
When ripe in early summer the capsules dehisce, releasing the seeds, each completely covered by a yellow aril (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Coates Palgrave, 2002; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
