Among the considerable flower variations found in Moraea gawleri there are these in which inner and outer tepals differ in colour. The outer three are yellow with brown-spotted nectar guides where they bend down. The unmarked inner tepals are white and slightly smaller.
The tepal upper parts of M. gawleri are not often reflexed down as far as seen here.
The erect, white floral parts seen above and encircling the flower centre are the three tepal-like, flattened style branches with split tips, resembling a lady’s hand. Moraea anthers are often concealed by these elaborate styles (Curtis-Scott, et al, 2020; Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Manning, 2007; iNaturalist).
