Chaenostoma hispidum, honeyflower or skunkbush

Two of the four anthers in Chaenostoma hispidum flowers are exserted from flower mouths in picture, as well as what must be a style tip.

Finishing on the petal lobes isn’t very neat or regular but flowers attract in spite of incidental imperfections. Some C. hispidum corolla lobes have small, basal line extensions of the yellow in the top of the flower tube.

The visible leaf parts show sunken midribs and fine hairiness on delectably green blades that appear soft textured. Leaf margin toothing is variable, related to leaf size or age.

Stem hairiness is silvery white, the thin hairs much longer than those on the leaves. Some hairs on this plant are gland-tipped (Privett and Lutzeyer, 2010; iNaturalist).
