    Author: Ivan Lätti

The two, about prostrate Satyrium longicauda var. longicauda leaves are visible in the grass. They grow from the sterile shoot on the side of the inflorescence stem. Spread nearly flat on the ground, these basal leaves are sometimes hidden in the grass or absent at bloom time.

Smaller cauline leaves, those up the flowering stem, are alternate, broadly stem-clasping and ending in pointed tips (Manning, 2009; Pooley, 1998; iNaturalist).
