Zaluzianskya distans buds

The flowers of Zaluzianskya distans grow in loose, spreading inflorescences with only the corolla tubes visibly emerging from among the upper leaves. The bracts are leaf-like and toothed. The calyces are two-lipped, ribbed and pleated.

The long corolla tube is from 2,4 cm to 5 cm long. The spreading corolla lobes are deeply notched, white on the inside and dull pinkish red purple on the outside. In picture the still closed buds are club-shaped, the red-purple surfaces fringed white along the lobe margins.

The fleshy, dull green leaves in picture recurve strongly. Their margins are angularly toothed, the hairy blades folded slightly along their midribs (Pooley, 1998; Trauseld, 1969; iNaturalist).
