Colchicum natalense, commonly known as the Natal pyjama flower, is a mostly stemless, cormous perennial reaching heights from 15 cm to 30 cm and forming clumps.
The plants annually grow two or three broad, lance-shaped leaves that taper to acutely pointed tips if no damage mars them. The green to dark green leaves nearly spread on the ground, are angled up. Leaf length is about 20 cm.
The species distribution is in the east of KwaZulu-Natal.
The habitat is coastal grassland. The habitat population is deemed of least concern early in the twenty first century.
The plants are used medicinally by some of the indigenous population (Pooley, 1998; iNaturalist; https://www.botanicalrealm.com; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
