This Crassula expansa subsp. expansa plant is making most of its opportunities among KwaZulu-Natal Drakensberg rocks. The information is sketchy, but this spot is probably not too far from the Sani Pass.
Flourishing green moss is covering rock while keeping the Crassula company. Their sharing is intimate and life-long, seemingly a timeless vigil of mountain sentinel buddies.
Winter is most years truly frigid here, many plants blanketed in snow for long. This pair must have weathered a few winters in their nook together already, quietly making it through the hard times. Also done some memorable summer seasons of sun, rain and thunder. All of it gifts lavishly bestowed by nature in a corner perceived by many as stark and challenging.
