The pointed, stem-sheathing leaves of Disa cooperi alternate up the stem to the lowest flowers of the inflorescence. It appears as if the separate leafy shoot normally grown by these disas is present next to the leaf-covered base of the flowering stem, although this is uncertain with several leafy stems visible nearby (Manning, 2009; Pooley, 1998; iNaturalist).
