    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Judd Kirkel Welwitch

Ripe and ready pollen, creamy yellow at the Eucomis schijffii filament tips give the anthers a shapeless appearance. The actual flower cup is formed by the corolla of six purple tepals around the more visible, pale cup inside it, formed by the joined bases of the filaments.

The purple leaf margin in picture shows part of the overlap on the ground among the leaves below the inflorescence. A green flower stalk is visible, not purple or spotted as on some E. schijffii plants.
