    Glumicalyx goseloides buds and bracts
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Judd Kirkel Welwitch

On this Glumicalyx goseloides flowering plant the pale lilac bracts on the bare, hairy peduncles are well above the leaves. And the five-lobed calyces are above the bracts, after the bend from where the flowers nod.

Below this on the younger, shorter stems in picture, the petal lobe tips are just emerging from the protective custody furnished by the glume-like sepals. Their peduncles are not yet that firmly pulling these green bud clusters into flowering position as in the case of the open flowers above them (Manning, 2009; Pooley, 1998; iNaturalist).
