The sessile or stalkless leaves of Glumicalyx montanus are curiously alternate, subopposite, opposite, decussate, spiralled or scattered, variably spaced and ascending on the sometimes reddish and faintly hairy upper stems.
The leaves are simple, oblong to elliptic or obovate with rounded or obtusely angled tips. The leaf margins are toothed, in picture angularly and only in the upper parts of the leaves. The leaves are here dark green, smooth and fleshy with a hint of redness on some margin parts. Leaves may show slightly sunken midribs on their upper surfaces.
Leaf dimensions are 5 mm to 20 mm long and 2 mm to 8 mm wide (Springer, 2019: The role of pollinators as ecological drivers of diversification in the Drakensberg Mountain Centre endemic genus Glumicalyx (Scrophulariaceae, Limoselleae), University of the Witwatersrand; Trauseld, 1969; iNaturalist; JSTOR).
