Rhodohypoxis baurii leaves and young flower

Rhodohypoxis baurii leaves and young flower
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Judd Kirkel Welwitch

The few leaves of Rhodohypoxis baurii grow annually in a basal rosette.  They are narrow and channelled, tapering slowly to acutely pointed tips as they curve outwards. The blade surfaces are bright green to deep green and somewhat glossy. There are sparse, long hairs mainly along the leaf margins.

The inner three tepals of the pink flower in picture are clawed and partly inflexed near the base. They initially cover the flower centre before they spread (Manning, 2009; Pooley, 1998; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; iNaturalist).
