Albizia julibrissin, commonly the Persian silk tree or mimosa tree, is an Asian exotic introduced into the warmer parts of South Africa, Europe and America, maybe more widely.

It is a small, deciduous tree, sometimes multi-trunked, growing a broad, umbrella-like canopy from 5 m to 12 m in height. The crown gets wider. These trees become about 30 years old. The bark is greenish grey to light brown, vertically striped and initially smooth, slightly rougher when old.

The tree is invasive in some, mostly tropical regions but not known to invade in South Africa (iNaturalist; Wikipedia; https://www.gardenia.net).
