The bright yellow or golden, unbranched inflorescence of Cyperus sphaerocephalus is compact, its several tiny spikelets arranged in a many-pointed cluster. The cluster is about 3 cm in diameter, the narrow, green bracts below it averaging at about 5 cm long. Flowering happens from spring to midsummer (Pooley, 1998; Germishuizen and Fabian, 1982; iNaturalist).
