    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Judd Kirkel Welwitch

This rock-sprawling Lessertia frutescens plant seen in the KwaZulu-Natal Drakensberg has orange red flowers with banner petals curving back pronouncedly and broad, keels pointing down slightly. The wings are obscured. The calyces are only partly red on this plant, partly green, or sometimes so.

The bluish leaflets are not all paired, some irregularly spaced and alternate but ascending about uniformly from their rachises. The leaves are alternate (Euston-Brown and Kruger, 2023; Manning, 2009; iNaturalist).
