Operating florally at ground level here, Brunsvigia bosmaniae proves improvising capability. Some flowers are already fully open, while others in unexpected positions are taking their time. The styles are in some cases ostentatiously curving well beyond their perianth tips, while others are only emerging. The pale, pollen-laden and dark, unripe anthers of different perianths send the same message of batches belonging to faster and others to slower operators.
And then there are the short, greenish, laggard buds on the photographer side of the inflorescence, inside the deep-coloured, round-tipped bract, the protective wall of the flowers. They tell of much to be done before all seed will be set here (Duncan, et al, 2016; Manning, 2007; iNaturalist; https://pza.sanbi.org; https://www.worldfloraonline.org).
