Delosperma ashtonii, commonly known as the flatleaf sheepfig, is a low-growing mesemb. The roots are tuberous, the crowded branches erect, reaching about 8 cm in height. All the green plant parts are soft and faintly hairy.

The species distribution is in the Free State and KwaZulu-Natal.

The habitat is grassland. The habitat population is deemed of least concern early in the twenty first century (Pooley, 1998; iNaturalist; https://www.researchgate.net; https://www.worldfloraonline.org; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
