    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Judd Kirkel Welwitch

The two-lipped Tritonia disticha flower in picture has tepals that recurve in their upper parts.

The three short white style branches in front of the flower centre diverge over and slightly further exserted than the three oblong anthers angled down, their upturned tips resembling skis. The anthers are mostly nearly white with dark longitudinal stripes present.

The two bracts at the base of every flower are membranous and variably pale brown, their margins papery. The outer bract is usually three-toothed, the inner one has two teeth, although the bracts are sometimes irregularly toothed. The bracts don’t consistently adhere to the back ends of the corollas.

The second, has-been flower in picture is old. Its corolla is closed and has lost its colour. The third has no corolla left. Whatever fruiting may be continuing inside is concealed by the bracts (Pooley, et al, 2025; Manning, 2009; Pooley, 1998; iNaturalist; https://www.worldfloraonline.org).
