The tricolor leaf rosette of this Aloe perfoliata plant tops with pale blue grey on the outsides of its youngest leaves, followed by a set of murky brown-red-purple ones in the middle and the dull, doubtful green on the insides of the sagging lower leaves. The stocky, broad leaves curve up to tips with few keel spines each.

The mitre appearance of the leaf rosette according to the old name, A. mitriformis, is accentuated in dry seasons, as the leaf tips then draw closer together at the top from the hardship (Van Wyk and Smith, 2003; Jeppe, 1969; iNaturalist).
