Only one sagging anterior petal hanging loose like a resting tongue deviates from the concerted forward inclination of floral parts in this elegant funnel-shape. Facing somewhere else, the Pelargonium articulatum flower flaunts its long corolla cup and curving rim.
Magenta petal markings are present on both upper and lower petals. The markings are usually only present on the upper ones.
Note the age difference in anther appearance between the two flowers: red brown in the younger one, blue purple in the older.
The shorter sepals, narrow, pointed and hairy, rest on the limbs of the smooth, cream petals. The pedicel is greener than the sepals that have dark dots (Shearing and Van Heerden, 2008; Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
