The cluster of flaring Salvia lanceolata calyces in picture are quite floral. They last longer than their longer corollas of which there is not one in sight here any longer.
Between the bulging veins on the outer calyx surfaces, also visible here on the insides, faint wrinkling enhances the pinkish hues that keep up appearances in the absence of their more recognised aesthetic counterparts, the corollas (Manning, 2009; Le Roux, et al, 2005; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; Manning and Goldblatt, 1996; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; https://pza.sanbi.org).
