Syncolostemon rotundifolius, commonly the roundleaf sagebush or the roundleaved pink plume, is a soft, open-growing shrub. Its sparse, white velvety to bluish grey stems as in the photo reach heights from 80 cm to 1,8 m.

The two-lipped, tubular flowers grow in fairly dense, opposite clusters in erect racemes and branched panicles. The calyces are up to 1 cm long. The corollas are up to 8 cm long, about 6 cm wide, the lobes triangular. Flower colour is mauve, pink or magenta. Bloomtime happens from spring to after midautumn.

The species distribution is in the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal.

The habitat is rocky grassland and scrub at elevations up to 400 m. The habitat population is deemed of least concern early in the twenty first century.

The flowers are pretty but the plants hard to grow (Pooley, 1998; iNaturalist; https://pza.sanbi.org; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
