The Wachendorfia brachyandra flowers grow in loose panicles. The bracts are papery. Flower colour is pale apricot-yellow in various shades. The six tepals form a two-lipped or laterally symmetrical corolla. They have dark markings at the base of the upper three tepals and are hairy on their outer surfaces.

The stamens are shorter than those of the other wachendorfias, although all their stamens are shorter than the tepals. One stamen twists and bend the same way as the style, the other two in the opposite direction. The small oblong anthers in picture are dull orange. The ovary is superior and hairy, the style in picture brownish and the stigma small.

The specific name, brachyandra, is derived from the Greek words brachus meaning short and andros meaning male or stamen, referring to the short stamens.

Each unscented flower lasts for about a day. Bloomtime is spring and early summer (Bean and Johns, 2005; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; Andrew, 2017; iNaturalist; https://pza.sanbi.org).
