These long, thin Helichrysum cymosum subsp. cymosum stems rise well separated, individually noticeable, in offering their flattish to shallowly domed inflorescences to the sun and the pollinators. Numerous, small, yellow heads are densely clustered in each inflorescence.
The stem-leaves decrease more in number or spacing than in size as they alternate up the soft, erect stems. The leaf margins are slightly rolled under, the stalkless blades attaching in their width to the stems. A few of them occur about in the head, among the lower cyme branches. Because there isn’t one present below each branch it seems acceptable to regard them as leaves, not bracts (Euston-Brown and Kruger, 2023; Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Manning, 2007; iNaturalist).
