The young Selago corymbosa plant may invest in a single or few long stems, presenting a solitary, fully developed inflorescence high for pollinator convenience. Growth takes time! Who knows when maturity arrives and departs?

This one (or two) was/were seen near the coast in the Eastern Cape (Euston-Brown and Kruger, 2023; Gledhill, 1981; iNaturalist).
