The pink form of Protea neriifolia flowerheads varies in the shades of pink on the inner, longer, upper bract surfaces. The outer rows are rapidly shorter, broader based and between triangular to round-tipped. Hairiness is reserved for the upper row (or two), black at the tips, silvery white laterally. The flat margins lower down are increasingly browned like dirty finger nails.
The hairless, mature leaves in picture respond to the rainwater in darker green versus blue-grey patches. The orange on the leaf margins is replaced by cream on some plants, not very consistently. Some midribs sport a bold cream colour (Rebelo, 1995; iNaturalist).
