This Wachendorfia paniculata plant is making the most of a hot day at the end of its bloomtime in November near Hermanus. One would hardly expect such performance so late in the season. Maybe there has been stimulation from a fire not too long ago. The bare ground might suggest it, although nearby plants have height.
The flowers are well-spaced in the panicle on orange to brown branches. A flower lasts for a day or less (Manning, 2009; iNaturalist; https://www.fernkloof.org.za).
