    This Leucadendron linifolium bush did not manage much height but made up for that in width. Its life near Hermanus has probably not been easy, the grass seeds beating it in height. The redness of upper branches and some leaf parts rarely seen on L. linifolium probably indicates stress. Other leaf parts are also yellower green than on most plants.

    Still, there is a crop of seed cones prepared at several stem-tips. Shirking duty is not for plants (Bean and Johns, 2005; Mustart, et al, 1997; Rebelo, 1995; iNaturalist).
