Leysera gnaphalodes leaves may be green or grey, as on the stems of this plant seen near Hermanus in November. The grey-leaved stems are the older ones. The dense, narrow leaves are straight and spreading, tapering to acutely pointed tips. Small green leaves can be seen emerging from some axils of grey leaves.
The plant is well-branched, also from low down, all stem-tips erect. Leaves are present up to close behind the stem-tip flowers and buds (Curtis-Scott, et al, 2020; Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Manning, 2007; iNaturalist).
