Cephalanthus natalensis few leaves, many flower clusters
    Author: Ivan Lätti

This Cephalanthus natalensis plant part has surprisingly few leaves for the ambitious number of inflorescences it provides for. The pale brown to grey upper branchlets show clearly through the leaves and flowers. They would be hidden in more leafy species.

Mostly nodding solitary from thin stems ending in pedicels, it is the mass of the inflorescence convincing the stem that bowing is the proper thing to do (Coates Palgrave, 2002; Schmidt, et al, 2002; Van Wyk and Van Wyk, 1997; Pooley, 1993; iNaturalist).
