Extending the range of lifestyles

Opportunity does not only come in all conceivable forms! It presents itself to the strangest living creatures in the most inconceivable of breaks. And the strange things take their chances! Observation by humans then adds the new solution to the list of conceived and conceivable forms. 

Crassula brevifolia subsp. brevifolia may live in the strangest places. No longer inconceivable to people, because enough people have watched it grow all over our beautiful arid land. Many ideas of what it can do have crystallised, but surprises in nature are always welcome.

As more species are discovered and their habits observed, the miracle of life extends the range of the new that the exploring species can witness. New lifestyles appear in the world all the time, and old ones die, while nature reassures people that she is only continuing the repeats.

And let us not flatter ourselves, we are not the only exploring species capitalising on its curiosity. In fact, what does not explore, assess and learn, does not find food, or ringfence danger.
