Hermannia desertorum upper growth

Hermannia desertorum upper growth
Author: Ivan Lätti

The channels in the finely velvety, grey green leaf blades of Hermannia desertorum correspond with the diverging veins that end in the angular but shallow, leaf-tip lobes. Young leaves often point up.

The flowers grow in small upper stem leaf axil clusters, nodding like twisted bells. The fleshy calyces of the here orange flowers spread wider than the corollas, covering them at the top like undulating bonnets. Pairs of thin acutely pointed bracts grow from the pedicel bases of the nodding flowers (Shearing and Van Heerden, 2008; iNaturalist).
