Xylotheca tettensis

Xylotheca tettensis, commonly the northern African dogrose, is a shrub or small tree reaching heights up to about 5 m. Its bark is grey, while young stems may be covered in long yellowish hairs. The young leaves grown in fascicles from spur-branches are round-tipped in picture. A profusion of flowers is seen from late winter to after midsummer.

This is not a South African tree. It occurs to the north in the eastern and central parts of Africa, widely distributed across Kenya, the DRC, Malawi, Tanzania, and southwards to Mozambique where the photo was taken (Coates Palgrave, 2002; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; iNaturalist; https://www.worldfloraonline.org).
