Saltera sarcocolla stigmas on top

The four reddish black stigma lobes are nearly the highest parts of each Saltera sarcocolla flower. They sit snugly together, head-like in quadrangular arrangement at the top of the white style.

Slightly lower down, the four anthers on short, also white filaments hug the style. Between the filaments, parts of the superior green ovary are visible. There are four ovules in each of its four locules; all in the neat functionality of the bisexual flower (Manning, 2007; Bean and Johns, 2005; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; iNaturalist).
