In the Carpobrotus edulis subsp. edulis flower in picture the petals do not open widely yet on the cold morning. In the foreground the brown, withered petals now collapsed on the developing fruit may provide a temporary cap against the elements.
The green, angled out sepals around both flower and fruit are shorter and broader than the leaves, whitish at the base.
Some leaves have succumbed partly or fully in red and purple to what must be trying conditions.
Otherwise, life appears to be continuing normally on the plant part in view. Considered over the real long term, a life as significant as any other on earth (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Manning, 2007; Mustart, et al, 1997; iNaturalist).
