    Phylica buxifolia spaced stem-tip clusters

    Phylica buxifolia spaced stem-tip clusters
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Francelle van Zyl

The stalked clusters of Phylica buxifolia fruit are uneven in size and development. They are accompanied by numerous narrow bracts, some incurving, making the stem-tip look busy in numerous hairy parts. The hairy fruit covers hide their skin colour early on while the globules have not yet swollen to full size. Short-stalked, the leaves curve up a little to pointed tips. The straight, creamy stem and stalk parts visible are bare but for faint, short hairiness (Coates Palgrave, 2002; Van Wyk and Van Wyk, 1997; iNaturalist).
