Bolboschoenus maritimus at the Vermont Salt Pan

Bolboschoenus maritimus at the Vermont Salt Pan
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Francelle van Zyl

A world citizen but less than a globetrotter, Bolboschoenus maritimus is at home here, settled by the waterside of the Vermont Salt Pan near Hermanus. Very comfortably, thank you!

The plant pictures website, iNaturalist, shows many pictures of this plant, the sea clubrush, by photographers that must have strolled near water. They show the plant growing in far-off, wide-ranging spots like near Moscow in Russia, in remote parts of Asia, all over Europe from Finland to Majorca, in California USA, and the South African coast.

Check the iNaturalist site with names of the plants you want to become better acquainted with (Curtis-Scott, et al, 2020; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; Pooley, 1998; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; https://pza.sanbi.org).
